Auditory Evoked Potentials

Auditory Evoked Potentials (AEP) also known as Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR). The ABR is evaluated by measuring the latency, or time it takes for the stimulus (sound) to travel through the auditory system to the lower brainstem. Auditory evoked potentials have very important clinical uses such as screening for possible hearing loss in newborns, evaluating auditory responses in infants and difficult to test populations and validation of hearing threshold in some adults. The ABR is also used as part of a battery of tests to assess site of lesion or hearing disorders resulting from abnormalities beyond the inner ear.

Electronystagmography (ENG) is part of a battery of tests to evaluate the vestibular (balance) system. The eyes are connected to the vestibular system through the vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR). We use the ENG to evaluate this pathway in order to diagnose and develop treatment plans for many vestibular (balance) disorders
